World Gliding Championship 2006 in Eskilstuna - Sweden

By this way we are pleased to congratulate Leigh Wells from UK for his victory in the standard class with his LS8 once more. Leigh placed himself throughout the whole championship in the daily tasks always within the front places and flew with his plane just "very well". This victory shows the potential that the LS8 incorporates: it is equal, even to the latest designs.

By means of the carried out improvements to the LS8-s and by the incorporation of a motor to the LS8-st, the well known LS8 is still "state of the art".

And we announce a second success:

Jez Hood, as well from the UK, has made the third place in the standard class with his LS8 at the world gliding championships.
To him as well our kind congratulations.

By the way, Leigh is the son of Martyn Wells, our LS representative in the UK.
He is also quite happy about the result.

LS10

Phil Jones, again from the UK, won the 18m class. Congratulations!

In Bruchsal we were curious about the final place of the actual German Gliding champion and head of our production line Holger Back. He flew one of our two LS10 and he was, as one likes to say, one of the favourites.

But as often the result is different as one expects:
Holger reported from a peculiarity during this championship: Quite often the thermals were somehow weak and although the starting points were widely spread, up to 60 gliders circled in the same thermal. Holger felt uneasy in that crowd of planes and started flying cross-country knowing that this is a tactical mistake. But he decided that his own safety counts more than being the first! (For me too!)

Anyway! Other pilots have a different view on that topic and avoided an out landing, whereas Holger had to land out (and be with the cows). Well, that was that and finally he had place 13! "Take it easy!", Holger!

Petr Krejcirik from the Czech Republic achieved with the second LS10 a remarkable 6th place. To him as well our kind congratulations!

And finally, Jeroen Kroon from Grooningen (Netherlands) sends a great image of Holger with his LS10 in the final:
