Tips for RC Model Builders

Frequently we are asked for plans of scale or semi-scale models for our sailplanes. I came to soaring myself by way of model building and flying, and my best sailplane model was a DG-100 with a 4.5 m span. I also built a ZLIN526 with a 2.7 m span and a chainsaw motor - what a aerotow formation!

I developed my own construction method, a Rohacell skeleton with several layers of roving and epoxy. I had no idea what would happen 20 years later.  DG today uses a method similar to the one I developed for my models. Well, that's history.

Now about the many requests for scale plans or even AutoCad-files. We never give out profile data - no manufacturer does this. It would probably not be of much use, because the profile of a full sized sailplane would surely not be optimal for a model.

Models fly in an entirely different Reynolds number range because of their smaller wing depth and airspeed and therefore need other profiles. In the past special model profiles by R.Eppler and F. X. Wortmann were available, and they are probably still around, and more useful.

A three-side sketch with measurements is available on our web site, with a short description of our sailplanes.

Additionally we offer a collection of three-dimensional-side views of all or gliders in pdf-format for free download.

We also make a DIN A3 sized original plan for Euro 15, which can be used to scale down the measurements. You can order it directly from Bruchsal. Please be so kind to use our order-sheet und pay by credit card.

There are many photographs on the web site including cockpit pictures. We don't have any other pictures, such as special cockpit photos for model builders.

But we can summarize the photos we have:

Cockpit photos of our aircraft
DG-808C - Motorglider, single Seater - similar to DG-600M and DG-400

CFK-Struktur als Instrumenten-Panel

DG-808S / DG-100 / DG-200 / DG-300 / DG-600

DG-505 / DG-505MB / DG-1000T

If you have built an especially nice model of one of our sailplanes we would appreciate getting pictures. You  might just find one on our web site some day, like the DG-1000 model in here.

We wish you success in your model building.

Incredible beautiful!

Here you can see an example of a phantastic model aircraft. This is not at all an original built one by our factory but an 1:3 Scale Model of a DG-800, perfectly bulit by Huston/USA.

The picture was made above Morningside Flight Park out of a flying ultralite.
