DG-Flugzeugbau keeps on working during the summer time!

Although several employees leave for their deserved summer holiday in August, DG Flugzeugbau has decided not to close down the whole factory this year for summer holiday.
The main reason is the excellent utilization and order situation in glider production as well as in the composites sector. We're happy to support our customers with service especially relating to spare parts and maintenance/repairs during that time. Order depending we kindly ask you to give us a bit more time to work on your inquiry. In September we'll have all employees back in again.

DG-Sailplanes reach 1st and 2nd rank in OLC World Ranking

On Mai 25th Jim Pane and Dennis Tito did a flight of 1.423 km with a DG-1001M.

This flight pushed them up to the 1st rank in the OLC World ranking in front of Jean Marc Perrin, who currently is 2nd on his DG-808C Competition.

In the end, DG Sailplanes currently occupy rank 1 and 2 in the OLC World Ranking List in categories "Best Flight", "OLC Champion" and rank 1 in "Champion Speed-OLC"!

This year, DG sailplanes are flying very successful all over the world. Another example is Sigi Samson with his DG-800.
On May 13th he did a 1040km (declared triangle) flight with an average speed of 104 km/h! This leads into a new German record for "distance over a triangular course" and "speed over a triangular course of 1000km"

In the Dutch Nationals again Hadriaan van Nes outperformed everybody but one with his DG 800 and became second overall behind the 'unbeatable' Ronald Termaat.

Hadriaan took 2 day trophies and left several Nimbus4, ASG29, Quintus, and Ventus2 behind . . .

Jelmer Wassenaar ended 3rd overall with the LS10 and finished first on the last competition day.

Ambulance Unit for a Boeing Business Jet

DG Flugzeugbau successfully delivered an ambulance unit (Medwall) for a Boeing Business Jet during spring. Principal is the well-known company “Spectrum Aeromed”, which supplied the stretcher unit.

The whole ambulance unit sets a new benchmark with regard to design, quality and functionality.

LS-10 successfully competes in the Hahnweide Competition 2012
Congratulations to Frank Schwerdtfeger who became 2nd in 15m class during the Hahnweide Competition 2012 on his LS-10s!
During the whole competition he always stayed in contact with the top and finally became 2nd after he won the last competition day!
He impressively showed that the LS-10 has also great potential in 15m class.

Many happy landings and lots of success in future!

On Febr. 29th Jim Payne and Dennis Tito were able to perform a great flight over more than 1.800km (>1.120 miles!) with a DG-1001M in the wave of California's Sierra. The average speed of 168 km/h (104 mph) impressively shows the DG-1001M's potential.

Since the Wave Season in Argentina is over now, this ambitious group around Dennis Tito wants to continue hunting long distances in America.

Congratulations to Terry Cubley. He won the Double Seater Class at the Australian Nationals 2012 with a DG-1000.

Also Peter Temple and Makoto Ichikawa have been very successful
(rank 2 and 3).

In total, we have 7 LS-8 in the TOP10 ranking!

Tobias Geiger (LS4) and Allan Barnes (LS1-f) successfully competed in club class (rank 2 and 3). Our DG and LS Representative Tom Gilbert from T&J Sailplanes successfully flew on rank 4.

Heinz Haemmerle flew 1.292 kilometers with the LS-8!
In the Alp’s south foehn Heinz Haemmerle from Austria was able to fly a distance of 1.292 km in an LS-8 on the 26th of August. He took-off from his home base Hohenems-Dornbirn in Austria and flew the distance in a combination of rotors, waves, thermals and on the ridge with an average speed of 117 km/h. This awesome flight is a European and National record in Standard Class.

DG and LS Pilots successfully compete in the Swiss National Championships

Gabriel Rossier wins Swiss Championships on his DG-800S.
Peter Keller wins the standard class on a LS-8. Thomas Sütterlin (LS-8) becomes third.
Hans Siegrist (LS-7) misses the podium and and becomes 4th.
We congratulate all pilots for their sportive achievements and wish lots of success and a great season!

Congratulations to Sue Kussbach.
She won the World Championships in Sweden in Standard Class with a LS-8!

Very hard weather conditions made the competition not so easy for her.
But finally she was able to succeed against the other competitors.

TN-DG-SS-01 - Maintenance Manuals for all DG Aircraft are approved now

From Aug. 31st on the new maintenance manuals for DG-100 up to DG-800 as well as for LS3 are mandatory for all owners of these aircraft. Customers with a Service Agreement will get these manuals for free without any order.
We expect the approval for the other LS Types soon.

If during engine retraction the propeller can’t be stopped in the vertical position, the relation between propeller and motor position has been changed due to a
jump of the drive belt.
Such a problem may be corrected easily.
